Protein, led by acclaimed Artistic Director Luca Silvestrini, is one of the UK’s most distinctive voices in contemporary dance theatre. For over 25 years, the company has captivated audiences with a dynamic blend of original choreography, text, music, and social commentary. Known for immersive and participatory storytelling, Protein breaks traditional boundaries to connect deeply with audiences in theatres, outdoor spaces, and communities. Notable productions include Border Tales, LOL (lots of love), May Contain Food, and The Little Prince. Their inclusion-focused work spans schools, hospitals, care homes, and refugee communities, earning widespread recognition—including The Stage’s Community Project of the Year 2023. Resident at Woolwich Works, Protein continues to inspire transformation through movement, story, and human connection.
